Grandmaster Leung Fu taught for over fifty years, and before 1980 was teaching Shaolin Temple arts and Eagle Claw in the United States. Bak Shaolin Ji Ying Jow Pai was founded by Grandmaster Lung Chi Ma with the intention to promote Northern Shaolin and especially the Eagle Claw style of Kung Fu. The title of Grand Master was passed down to Sifu Leung Fu in the 1970s; in 1978 the first Bak Shaolin Eagle Claw school was opened in the US and was only one of a handful in the US at that time to teach authentic Eagle Claw. This school was promoted by Grandmaster Leung Lee Fu with the acknowledgment and blessing of the Hong Kong Chinese Martial Arts Association. Grandmaster Fu set up over twenty schools in seventeen countries and his students now teach in schools across the US.
Beginning his training at the age of four, Grandmaster Fu studied the Monkey system under his temple godmother and the Eagle system under his temple godfather. His training was brutal, especially for a boy of that age - by the age of twelve he had already mastered the double broadswords. After reaching his maturity he became a military man as a soldier for hire, and was eventually recruited to do covert work in Hong Kong. During his time in Hong Kong he studied Hung Gar under the late Sifu Chan Hon Chung, as well as expanding his knowledge of Eagle Claw studying in Lau Fat Mang’s gym in Kowloon, specifically under James Lau Chi Kin. He remained a military man into his later life, and during his career his martial skills were tested in Vietnam among a number of other armed conflicts and military operations. As a result of his experiences, his teaching stressed the reality of the fighting techniques of his styles and not just practice as an exercise and performing tool; he was at one point a sought-after instructor for various military services and police units. After his military retirement, Grandmaster Fu continued to teach with the goal of educating people on the true martial and philosophical meaning of Kung Fu through the end of his life.
